TWO adults who went to the aid of a dog that got stuck in a fast-flowing river then got stuck THEMSELVES.
The drama unfolded at the Washford River, in Watchet, at just after 7.30pm on Boxing Day evening (December 26).
"Fire control received a call from the owners of a dog who was stuck in a fast flowing river in Watchet therefore a fire engine from Williton and the Specialist Rescue Team from Bridgwater attended," said a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.
"On route, crews received further information that two adults had entered the water to rescue the dog and became stuck themselves, the incident was therefore escalated and an additional fire appliance from Minehead sent to the incident.
"Upon arrival, crews confirmed the dog had self rescued and the two adults were stuck waist deep in fast flowing water.
"Crews used a triple extension ladder and throw lines and both adults were able to pull themselves out of the water."
