A COLLEGE in Somerset is appealing for volunteers to help with the coronavirus testing when students return after the latest lockdown.

Strode College is asking for help after the announcement that students will need to be tested for the virus before they head back to education.

Volunteers will need to assist with lateral flow testing, which aims to identify anyone carrying the virus but not showing symptoms.

The Street college will train the volunteers and supply them with the necessary PPE.

Katy Quinn, Strode College principal said: “Obviously it’s been quite a challenge to co-ordinate the testing given the rapidly changing situation.

"We’ve already had a fantastic response from our local community, but anyone able to support us by volunteering, even if just for a single morning or afternoon over two weeks, would really help us.”

The new testing will support the College’s existing Covid-19 safety measures, which will be adapted and enhanced as and when any new government guidance is available.
