A BODY has been found in the River Tone in Taunton.
Police were called to the scene at 9.15am this morning (January 10), and the area has been cordoned off while they carry out investigations.
The cordon is in place on the River Tone near the the Obridge Viaduct.
Police found the body just after 1pm today.
“A man’s body was recovered from the River Tone, Taunton following a report from a member of the public," said a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police.
"A cordon remains in place in the area and enquiries are ongoing.
"The man’s identity has not been confirmed at this stage and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.”
