A POWER cut was avoided in Ruishton after a sharp eyed observation from a helicopter.
Workers from Western Power Distribution were sent to the village today (Monday) to repair a defective cable spotted during an aerial patrol.
Residents were amazed to see five vans and a digger descend on Ruishton earlier in the day.
A WPD spokeswoman said: "The workers are replacing a defective high voltage cable spotted by the helicopter crew during patrols.
"If the cable wasn't replaced, faults could happen. It could be dangerous and there could be power cuts."
She added that a number of vehicles were sent to deal with the problem due to social distancing measures which require staff to use separate vehicles.
The electricity supply was temporarily diverted to ensure customers did not lose power.
