GROUND work has started on a development of flats and commercial units off Taunton town centre.
A former motorcycle shop in Wood Street which was in a poor state of repair and a hair salon in Staplegrove Road have been demolished to make way for the project.
The original planning application for nine two-bedroom flats and two commercial units was submitted on behalf of champion race horse trainer Martin Pipe and his wife.

Work started on the site towards the end of last year and the area has been fenced off for safety reasons.
