IT doesn't seem that long ago when Taunton people going into town for a drink were spoilt for choice.
Here are a couple of the old boozers those of a certain age might remember.
In the days of the livestock market, people would relax on a Saturday afternoon afterwards in one of the many watering holes in and around Station Road.
One of those hostelries was the Wheeltappers and Shunters pub on Station Road, just down from Taunton Station.
It closed in the late 1990s and is today a residential building.
A popular daytime and evening haunt in High Street was Yates's.
It was popular all year round, but particularly in the summer, when customers could lounge in chairs outside.
The building now houses a Tesco store.
