THERE were 245 positive Covid-19 tests in Somerset in the latest 24-hour period.

Of those, 59 were in South Somerset, which has now seen 3,822 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.

Somerset West and Taunton has 75 new confirmed cases, taking its overall total to 4,390.

There were 67 positive tests in Sedgemoor, where the overall total rises to 3,902.

The 44 new confirmed cases in Mendip mean there have now been 2,493 confirmed cases there overall.

The overall total of confirmed coronavirus cases in the county council area is now 14,607.

The latest Covid-19 infection rates based on the analysis of rolling seven-day new confirmed cases are 232.3 per 100,000 people in South Somerset, down from the previous day's 237; 381 per 100,000 in Somerset West and Taunton, up from 375.9 per 100,000; 330.4 per 100,000 in Sedgemoor, down from 341.2; and 271.4 in Mendip, up from 247.4.
