PEOPLE of a certain age will remember their misspent youth in the Light Bob pub in High Street, Taunton.
It closed several years ago, but who can forget trudging down those stairs into the bar on a Saturday night?
The landlady up until it closed was Mrs Kennard, who retired to Dorset.
Steve Wild, of Bishop's Hull, who used to work for Ushers Brewery kindly sent us these photos.
The above photo must have been taken at lunchtime or early evening as later on you could hardly move for people.
Anyone recognise the two pool players?
And who is the woman in the main picture in the bar?
Below is a more recent photo of the venue, years after The Light Bob had left the scene.
Who knows why it was called the Light Bob?
Taunton man Keith Grimes explained a couple of years back.
He told us it was in honour of Major General Sir Robert Henry Slade (1782-1845), commandant of the 13th Light Infantry, later the Somerset Light Infantry and nicknamed by his troops 'Fighting Bob'.
Keith, who served with the SLI himself from 1957-1960, said he never entered the Light Bob himself.
