THE government advises us all to go out to exercise during lockdown.
So what does Somerset County Council Rights of Way Department do?
Yes, you’ve guessed it - shuts down the most popular footpath in Norton Fitzwarren and, what’s more, barricades access to the footpath’s footbridge over Halse Water to make doubly sure residents and others can’t use it.
(Well, except if they’re prepared to wade through deep fast flowing water, or collide with a vehicle if the only alternative is to walk along the busy B3227.)

You couldn’t make it up, could you?
Well, perhaps you could if you you’re totally out of touch, come from another planet, and are part of Somerset County Council’s Rights of Way Department!
