SOMERSET'S newest McDonald’s restaurant is opening this week.

The official opening of the McDonald's in Wincanton is on Wednesday (February 10).

The restaurant on Lawrence Hill is creating 65 full and part-time jobs.

Franchisee Sarah Lloyd will now operate three restaurants, including those in Sparkford and Amesbury.

At first the new restaurant will be operating as drive thru' only, with dine-in and walk-in takeaway paused across all McDonald’s restaurants while any additional enhanced safety measures are reviewed and verified.

Click & Serve through My McDonald’s App will also be available.

Ms Lloyd said: "We are delighted to be expanding our operation in Wincanton and we’re so looking forward to seeing our new and existing local customers at the restaurant.

"We’d like to thank all of our customers in advance for their support and patience as we operate safely during lockdown restrictions."

The new restaurant will boast all the latest innovations from McDonald’s.

Once dining areas re-open, self-service kiosks mean visitors can order at a speed that suits them, while easily accessing nutritional information and making informed food choices. Digital menu boards will also be displayed at the drive thru'.
