DESPITE the coronavirus lockdown, one group has managed to continue crafting, and is hoping to host an exhibition in October.

Avalon Embroiderers' Guild, based in Ashcott, started a stitching in lockdown project called 'Above and Beyond'.

"We established a staycation (as opposed to travelling) book and invited contributions on the Heavens Above topic," said a spokesperson for the group.

"Each month a new sky-related prompt was issued. Some were quite realistic, such as vapour trails, and some more ephemeral, and sky-themed gifts were sent off by the project coordinator to the makers of the first and fifth pieces received.

"We have enough contributions to complete two books and are now onto a third, the covers for which have been commissioned from some of the project's most enthusiastic followers."

The group are hoping to be able to gather in the same room again this year, and have plans for an exhibition at Wells Museum between October 9 and 16 2021. To find out more visit www.avalonembroiderersguild.weebly.com.
