A new, free-to-use tool launched by Wessex Water can help you save money on your water bills, claim free water saving devices for your home and raise money for local charities.

Have you ever wondered how many litres of water your daily shower uses? Or if you’re more of a bath person, how many litres do you think it takes to fill a tub each time?

With GetWaterFit, a new tool launched by Wessex Water, you can calculate how much water your household uses and set yourself some easy challenges to make savings and reduce your water bill if you’re on a meter.

Once you’ve completed the calculator, you can claim a selection of free water saving devices, which for a limited time only now includes an eco showerhead for mains pressurised showers, worth £24.99.

Save on water bills

If you’re on a water meter, fully understanding your water use and where you can cut it down without making any serious changes to your daily routine will save you money on your water bill. Even small actions such as only using your washing machine for a full load or turning the tap off when brushing your teeth can make a big difference over time.

As well as saving money, you’ll be reducing your carbon footprint, especially if you cut down your hot water usage.

Raise money for charity

Completing the water calculator is just the first step to your GetWaterFit journey. You can set yourself challenges to save water and get your home water efficient. Completing the challenges earns you ‘coins’ which you can exchange to raise money for some amazing local charities.

The more challenges you complete and coins you earn, the more Wessex Water will donate to your chosen charities on your behalf.

Easy ways to save water from Wessex Water:

  • Only use your washing machine and dishwasher when you have a full load.
  • Reuse water from washing, boiling or steaming vegetables on your plants.
  • Fill the kettle with only what you need – this will save energy too.
  • Only turn the tap on to rinse when brushing your teeth or shaving.
  • Same with the shower – turn it off when lathering up shower gel.
