A MAN has been drawing crosses on doorways in what appears to be blood in Taunton.

Residents in the Staplegrove and Priorswood area of the town were concerned about the man who was knocking on doors telling people he was God.

Police found the man after a call on Monday morning (February 22). He was detained under the mental health act and taken to hospital.

One resident said: "There's a guy going door to door in the Quantock Road area of Taunton asking if you believe in God.

"When I answered he said he was god and that if I let him in he would show me.. all the time keeping his hands in his hoodie pocket.

"After promptly telling him to get away from my house, he drew a cross on my door frame in what looks like blood."

Police were called after Taunton residents became concerned for the man's welfare.

"Police were called on Monday morning, February 22 by members of the public concerned for the welfare of a man who was knocking on doors and behaving erratically in the Staplegrove/Priorswood area of Taunton," said a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police.

"Officers attended and located the man.

"He was detained under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital."
