THE driver of this car managed to escape injury after their vehicle ended up smashing into the central reservation of the M5.
The vehicle had just driven past Wellington on the motorway and was between Junctions 26 and 27 southbound at the time of the incident earlier this afternoon (Wednesday).
As well as seeing the vehicle badly damaged, the owner also faces further action, with police claiming the rear tyres were illegally worn.
And it didn't help that the road surface was wet following heavy rain.
A post from Avon and Somerset Police road safety unit said: "Collision #M5 southbound J26-27 this afternoon.
"Lots of surface water out there today.
"Rear tyres found to be below the legal tread depth which very possibly didn't help.
"No injuries thankfully, but this could so easily have been avoided.
"Driver reported."
The incident caused a partial road blockage for a period.
