THE licensees of a village pub near Taunton have revealed they are leaving to take on another hostelry near the centre of the county town.

Mandy and Jimmy Church have pulled their last pints at the Swan, in Kingston St Mary.

They are now preparing to get behind the bar of the Princess Royal, in Canon Street, Taunton.

The couple had been at the Swan since October 2019, apart from a couple of weeks off in March last year due to Covid restrictions.

They returned to open up a shop at Easter before re-opening the pub in the summer.

Mandy and Jimmy posted on Facebook: "We would just like to thank everyone for all their support while we were at the Swan.

"We have had a great few months and have had the pleasure of meeting lots of lovely people."

Another media post said: "Mandy and Jimmy became your hosts and we would like to think they became part of the village.

"They never got the opportunity to run the Swan as a proper pub, but they did what they could.

"Anyway we are not going far. Mandy and Jimmy will take the helm at the Princess Royal Taunton.

"We don't know when they will be able to open fully, but we will be honouring all pre-booked Mother's Day boxes from there - we know how much you all enjoy our afternoon tea boxes."
