A CHARITY is putting up a reward to try to track down the person who slashed the tyres of several cars belonging to NHS staff.

Anyone with information is being asked to get in touch with Crimestoppers in an attempt to bring the perpetrator to justice.

The charity is hoping the lure of a reward will encourage someone to come forward anonymously with vital information.

The tyres were slashed on Tuesday, February 9 in Musgrove Road, Taunton.

Police have been investigating the incident and kind-hearted people have assisted in some cases by either paying for repairs or carrying them out for free.

At the time, Chloe Sedgbeer, a nurse at nearby Musgrove Park Hospital, told how she and a colleague discovered their tyres slashed after coming off a 12.5 hour night shift.

She said: "I looked around and saw there were a few other cars in the same condition.

"Upon closer inspection it looked like it had been punctured in the side with something sharp."

Leigh Mills, who also works at the hospital, set up a JustGiving page to help the people who had their tyres slashed to pay for the damage.

Leigh said: "Everyone knows the staff park there and it felt to be like a deliberate attack.

"I couldn’t sit back and do nothing. These are my colleagues and in normal circumstances they work so hard but during these unprecedented times they are working even harder.

"No one deserves to work a 12/13 hour shift, to find their cars damaged and have to hang around in freezing conditions and find the money to fix their cars to enable them to go home and sleep."

At the time, Avon and Somerset Police appealed for "information, dashcam, CCTV or smart doorbell footage".
