AN outdoor golf and adventure centre is set to re-open next week.

The centre, at Vivary Park in Taunton, will welcome back golfers from Monday, March 29 and from Friday (April 2), the high ropes will re-open for the first time since the start of the pandemic.

Blackbrook Leisure Centre & Spa in Taunton will also be opening to customers for outdoor tennis from Monday, March 29.

Everyone Active, who manage the facilities, has also introduced certain procedures to make sure visitors are able to social distance.

Mark Washington, Everyone Active's contract manager, said they are "looking forward" to re-opening and welcoming back customers.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support we have received from customers and colleagues over the last 13 months, and we’re grateful to be in a position to start reopening a number of our activities," he said.

"The greenkeepers have done a great job at maintaining the golf course ensuring it’s ready to welcome everyone back.

“We continue to work hard to ensure our site is a Covid-safe environment and have carefully considered the strict measurements in accordance with the government guidance.

“As part of the reopening phase, it is incredibly important that we all remain vigilant and considerate of fellow customers.”

Members and customers will be able to book the activities from Thursday, March 25.

Councillor Richard Lees, executive member for leisure at Somerset West and Taunton Council, is "delighted" the facilities can open, but it warning customers to stay safe.

“I understand that people will be keen to get outside and enjoy these facilities, however, Covid-19 remains a very real threat so please remember to maintain social distancing and follow hygiene guidelines to minimise the risk of spreading this virus for the safety of everyone in our communities,” he added.
