POLICE and a fire crew were called to a car on fire in West Hatch, near Taunton, this morning (April 4).

The car was "well alight" and blocking the road, so police attendance was requested.

One fire engine from Taunton attended the incident at around 11am.

"Crews extinguished the fire using two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets," said a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue.

"The fire was confined to the engine compartment and was completely destroyed.

"The cause of the fire was accidental."
