TWO people had a lucky escape after a house fire near Taunton last night (April 5).
A fire engine from Ilminster and two from Taunton attended the fire on Bickenhall Lane, Bickenhall, Taunton at around 5.15pm.
Two people were thought to be trapped inside, but managed to get out thanks to the advice of Fire Control.
"On arrival of the fire crews they found there to have been a fire in involving a garage annexe, however appeared to be out by the time they arrived," a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said.
"Crews set to work using breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one safety jet and a thermal imaging camera, to check for any potential fire spread in the roof.
"The two occupants of the property were checked for smoke inhalation.
"There was 25 per cent damage to the external of the property, and 10 per cent damage to the internal.
"The cause of the fire was accidental."
