A WOMAN who died in a road traffic collision in Somerset this week has been named as top class athlete Natasha 'Tash' Lewis.

Natasha, who was in her 20s, died after being hit by a car while out on a run at around 6am on Wednesday (April 7).

A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident on the A367 at Clandown, near Peasedown St John and later released on bail.

Natasha, a member of Bath Athletic Club for many years, competed at national level at a number of events, including long jump and 200 metres and represented Great Britain at bobsleigh and triathlon.

Recently she took up long distance running and was aiming to compete for Great Britain in that discipline.

She worked as a personal trainer with her fiancé Dave Bowler.

A social media post by Bath AC said: "She inspired and coached many in achieving their fitness goals.

"She was incredibly determined and committed, full of life and positive energy.

"Behind her steely determination she was kind, caring and fun.

"This is an incredibly tragic loss of an incredible young lady with so much to live for.

"Our love and thoughts are with her family who are suffering from unimaginable shock and loss."

A fund set up in Natasha's memory to support athletes who are in need of running shoes and help push them on to greater things and share the same love for running that she did has already raised more than £30,000.
