PEOPLE have been advised to keep their windows and doors closed during an "agricultural fire" in a Somerset village.
Fire crews were sent to reports of a barn alight in Colefored, near Frome, at 2.20pm today (Tuesday) following several calls from the public.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Within minutes the incident commander confirmed that one barn was well alight and requested a further three fire appliances for additional personnel and water, and a further 4 x 4 for assistance moving kit around the fire ground.
"Due to an increase in smoke into the atmosphere the incident commander asked control to advise the public within the village to keep windows and doors closed."
Fire crews battled the fire with water sourced from a nearby pond.
