Owners of two holiday parks on the Lizard Peninsula say more than £2.5 million has been invested in getting them ready for the new season.

Parkdean Resorts operates two parks there – Lizard Point (formerly Mullion Holiday Park) and Sea Acres near Kennack Sands, which in 2020 welcomed 37,192 visitors.

The money has been spent on installing new accommodation and upgrading existing caravans and lodges, as part of a £70 million investment nationwide.

The company said it was now hiring for seasonal and full-time roles in the area.

The upgrade at Lizard Point includes 30 improved chalets and two new four-bed lodges, an updated complex building, a new Boathouse Bar & Restaurant, and new kids’ activities, as well as the addition of two new pet friendly caravans at Sea Acres.

In addition, 37 upgraded caravans are being introduced to replace existing fleet across the two parks.

The two parks employ around 135 staff in season, and both are currently hiring for a number of seasonal roles across sales, food and beverage, and housekeeping. Vacancies can be found on the Parkdean website.

Steve Richards, chief executive of Parkdean Resorts, said: “Despite the most challenging of years, we’re continuing to invest in our parks, creating an even better experience for holidaymakers and holiday home owners in 2021.

"With industry-leading Covid-safe standards, we’re looking forward to welcoming people back safely, to enjoy everything our parks, and the surrounding areas, have to offer.

"We know how reliant the local economy is on tourism, and we’re confident that we can help the region recover by welcoming holidaymakers to enjoy a well-deserved staycation in Cornwall.”

Lizard Point is now one of seven 'Parks of the Future' - the name given by Parkdean to the parks that have had a complete revamp of facilities. It includes a new indoor sports dome and high ropes course this year, in addition to the miniature golf course and carting area.

It will continue its Bear Grylls Survival Academy launched last year, with a new 'shipwrecked' theme. There are four missions available to children aged eight and above, plus a family session where children of all ages can get involved.
