AN award-winning country house hotel on Exmoor has been declared a Travellers’ Choice winner for the second year running.

Tripadvisor has again awarded the title to Dunkery Beacon Country House Hotel in Wootton Courtenay – putting it in the top 10 per cent of hotels worldwide.

John Bradley, chef and co-owner of the country house hotel, said: “We’re delighted to have achieved this wonderful rating in this particularly challenging year.

"We’re very glad to hear that we still managed to stand out from the crowd, despite everything and are proud of this wonderful achievement.

"We were winners in 2020 too, so this is our second year to receive this accolade.

“We’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to our hardworking team during this difficult period and to all of the guests who have stayed with us and left their positive feedback on Tripadvisor for everyone to see.”

The Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards - formerly Certificate of Excellence - celebrate hotels that consistently deliver fantastic experiences to travellers across the globe.

The reviews and opinions are collected in a single year from travellers around the world.

The award takes into account of the quality and quantity of reviews and ratings specific to each award category.

Dunkery Beacon will be re-opening its doors and welcoming its loyal guests and new faces from Monday (May 17).

The country house has eight luxury rooms including three suites, all with stunning views across Exmoor.

The team remains committed to a programme of deep cleaning and sanitising to provide as safe an environment as possible for guests to relax in.

Mr Bradley, who has 30 years' experience in catering, added: “We’re so excited to be welcoming back our guests especially after hearing the news about our award, it has raised everyone’s spirits after the recent uncertain times, and we feel more than ready to be re-opening our doors again.

“We’re known for providing a home away from home experience for anyone who stays with us.

"Those who want to dine with us in the evening will be able to enjoy the comfort of our award-winning restaurant or, if the weather permits, eat alfresco while taking in the breath taking views of Exmoor.
