CYGNETS at a popular Somerset landmark have finally been named thanks to an annual competition.

The Bishop's Palace in Wells announced the results of their cygnet-naming competition today (May 20).

There were hundreds of entries after four cygnets hatched earlier this month.

People sent in names via social media, email and in person.

Moira Anderson, who looks after the swans at the palace, said: "It was fantastic to see so many people entering the competition and really interesting to see all of the suggestions.

"At least we only had one suggestion for ‘Swanny McSwan Face’ this year!"
