APPARENTLY, four Somerset MPs are criticising the forthcoming referendum on the unitary options.
Although the Secretary of State purports to be consulting on this matter, he emailed all four district councils on April 12, to caution them against their collective decision to hold a referendum.
That intervention meant that the referendum could NOT take place, as planned, alongside the votes on May 6, at minimum expense, with maximum turnout.

Instead, Queen’s Counsel opinion had to be sought, and a separate, delayed referendum organised.
Perhaps the four MPs could comment on that intervention?
