FIRE crews have rescued three live animals from water in two days.
A crew from Glastonbury was sent to a horse stuck in a boggy, water-filled ditch in Blagrave Road, Butleigh, shortly after 1pm today (Sunday).
The animal was in a 5ft deep rhyne with a silt base.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Along with officers, fire crews formed a rescue plan which was successfully implemented following sedation of the horse by a vet."
Around two hours later, firefighters from Somerton accompanied by a Bridgwater crew with animal rescue equipment was sent to reports of a cow stuck in a river in Whatley, Langport.
The exhausted cow was on the rushes and exhausted.
The spokesperson said: "Crews managed to encourage the cow into a private garden with the owner’s consent, whilst the Farmer was contacted and requested to attend."
It comes a day after a horse was rescued by Somerton firefighters after it became stuck in a river at Swanston, Huish Episcopi at around 8am yesterday (Saturday)..
