A MIDDLE-aged man stole two half pigs from an abattoir on the edge of Taunton.
Franciszek Sak, 60, of Staplegrove, pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared at Taunton Magistrates' Court.
Sak entered the premises at Staplegrove Mills, which is owned by Stillmans butchers, as a trespasser.
The value to the two half pigs was put at £500.
Sak was ordered by magistrates to pay £500 compensation to Staplegrove Mills.
He must also pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 towards Crown Prosecution Services costs.
Sak was also given a community order with a curfew order under which he must stay at home between 8pm and 4am daily for 12 weeks.
