A YOUNG girl sadly fell to her death the day before her 17th birthday, an inquest has heard.

Chloe Dibble died at the Churchill Retirement Living development site in Taunton on October 25, 2020.

Senior Somerset coroner, Tony Williams, recorded a suicide conclusion.

Chloe had slipped out of her family home in Musgrove Road, Taunton, after midnight and her family reported her missing to the police.

At the inquest, it was revealed Chloe had drunk alcohol and was more than twice over the drink drive limit when she fell at the former Lidl site, in Tangier Way.

Chloe had sent text and Snapchat messages shortly before she died, the inquest heard. She also sent a friend a video.

The coroner said Chloe 'smiled for four seconds' before she died.

Police investigated her death and said it was 'tragically sad that a young talented person' with mental health issues had ended up in that situation.

She died from traumatic injuries.

The Taunton hearing was also told that Chloe had made previous suicide attempts.

The coroner was told that Chloe was very close to her sister, Hannah, who had travelled to Turkey a few months earlier and she described as her 'best friend'.

Chloe's mother Josephine said they were about to fly out to see Hannah in Turkey but police stopped them from jetting off at the airport.

A multi-agency response said Chloe should not go abroad because her health could not be monitored properly which her mother said made her feel like a 'bad mum'.

Her mum said Chloe was a very quiet girl with few friends but achieved top grades in her GCSE exams despite not being very talkative or expressive.
