A MAN needed hospital treatment for a head injury after he was attacked in Taunton.

Police say the attacker was in the company of a woman and small child at the time of the incident.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

It took place in Leycroft Road at around 5.25pm last Tuesday (June 8).

Two men have been arrested and released under investigation while police carry out further enquiries.

The victim, who is in his 40s, was discharged from hospital following treatment.

The offender is described as white, aged in his 20s or 30s, and of slim build.

He wasn’t wearing a top.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "Specialist crime scene investigators examined the area while officers have also carried out house to house enquiries continue to obtain and review local CCTV.

"Two men, aged 34 and 36, have been arrested and have been released under investigation while further enquiries take place.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any other information which could help our inquiry, is asked to call 101 and provide the call handler with the reference 5221127240."
