SCORES of people turned out to show that a teenage killed by speeding motorists ten years ago has not been forgotten.

Blackbrook Way in Taunton came to a standstill as a vigil was held to remember schoolgirl Amy Hofmeister on Tuesday evening a decade after her death.

Amy's mum Jane Hofmeister led the gathering of friends and family and a fire crew in a minute's silence to remember Amy and all road death victims.

The event was at the spot where the 13-year-old died on June 15 2011.

Mrs Hofmeister has worked tirelessly since the tragedy through the Think Amy charity she set up to educate people about the potential dangers of driving.

People unable to attend yesterday's events were asked to light a candle in memory of Amy.

Leonard Jones, then 41, was jailed for seven years for causing Amy's death by dangerous driving.

At the time he was racing his girlfriend Leanne Burnell, 21, in a different car. She was jailed for 18 months on the same charge.
