AN 8-year-old from Somerset is set to complete in a national beauty pageant in August.

Aurora, from Compton Dundon, currently holds the title of Little Miss Diamond Somerset, and will be competing later this year for the winning crown.

If Aurora becomes Little Miss Diamond United Kingdom Queen, she will have the chance to fly to Las Vegas to compete for the international world title.

Jennifer Cox, Aurora's mum, said her daughter started modelling around three years ago.

"We were approached by the pageant world three years ago," she said.

"At first I was sceptical as you hear all sorts about pageantry, mainly negative views. However after looking further into it we found a pageant system we absolutely loved - Miss Diamond UK.

"It focuses on charity work and raising money for important causes that we felt we could really help with.

"Auroras chosen platform concentrates on the support of vulnerable women and children. Those who are seeking refuge and food parcels for example.

"Auroras been competing for two years now, however Covid-19 has limited her time on a live stage.

"Aurora and her sister Paisley have made some life long friends already and have felt welcomed with open arms.

"Pageantry really does feel like a family.

"I am super proud of everything that Aurora has achieved so far, her dedication to helping others and her excitement to walk the catwalk stages, feeling amazing makes it all worth it."
