FAMILIES enjoyed a day out at an annual museum event on Sunday (June 27).

Castle Day took place at the Museum of Somerset in Taunton- and it was their first 'in-person' event this year.

This annual event takes place to celebrate the museums building.

This year, the focus was on becoming a knight, so the children made a sword and shield and received a lesson on how to use them.

They then took part in a quest to discover the virtues of a knight and collected ideas for their coat of arms.

If they were successful, the children then stood in front of the queen and received their knighthood.

A spokesperson for the Museum of Somerset said: "The event has been very different to previous years but people have been having a great time, and we have received lots of positive comments.

"The staff were all excited to be able to join in."
