DOZENS of people could be living in these council homes by the seaside by early 2023.
Planning consent has already been approved for the 54 homes in Seaward Way, Minehead.
Somerset West and Taunton Council has appointed Classic Builders to build the development.
Work is underway on the design and low carbon measures.
Construction workers are expected to move onto the site in late summer this year following a "lead-in period".
An SWT report to councillors says: "With some phases ready from early 2023, it is anticipated that the build will take just under two years to complete.
"In line with the council’s declaration to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, the homes will be zero carbon in use.
"Local people in housing need living in or having connections to Minehead will have priority in obtaining one of these innovative homes for rent."
