THERE were plenty of takers at home care company Home Instead Taunton's charity cupcake day.
The company, which cares for local older people in their own homes, raised £167.20 for the Alzheimer's Society at the event.
With the help of local business For Heavens Cakes, a giant Home Instead cupcake was baked and people were invited to take part in a competition to guess its weight.
Mary Jeanes guessed correctly and got to take the cake home.
The company sold cakes and drinks throughout the day, encouraging local people, their clients and caregivers to join in.
Co-owner of Home Instead Taunton Vanessa Munson said: “It was such a lovely day, and we were thrilled to raise £167.20 for The Alzheimer’s Society.
"It’s always wonderful to meet and interact with members of our local community, especially to tell them more about a topic that is so important.
“The whole community should seek to learn more about dementia and Alzheimer’s related illnesses so that those living with the diseases can be treated with understanding and patience when they are out and about.
"It is not always an easy illness to understand, and it can be heart-breaking for those living with it and their loved ones.
"By spreading understanding and raising money for The Alzheimer’s Society, we are doing our bit to make society a more comfortable place for those affected by the illness."
