A WEST Somerset charity is coming to the rescue of staycation families with an affordable holiday getaway at a time of soaring prices.

For less than £100 per person per night, families can enjoy a full board adventure holiday with the Field Studies Council at its Nettlecombe Court hostel in Williton.

What’s more, infants go free and with a jam-packed programme of events and activities included in the package, parents won’t need to worry about entertaining their children or paying for additional days out.

Ian Wainwright, commercial director for FSC, said: “With the continued uncertainty around foreign holidays and changing travel restrictions, it’s not surprising that many families are choosing to spend time here in the UK.

“Demand for self-catering cottages, caravans and campsites is at an all-time high and this is unfortunately driving up prices and making a summertime getaway unaffordable for some families.

“After the challenges we’ve all faced over the last 18 months, we think it’s important that everyone has the opportunity to spend some time away from home relaxing — and our Stay With Us Family Adventure breaks offer the perfect solution, with an affordable price tag.

"In fact, you’ll pay the same price for a holiday with us in August as you will in October.

“Our basic but comfortable, Covid-safe, hostel-type accommodation is a step up from camping for those who like a proper bed and a roof over their head, and there is plenty of safe, outdoor space at all our hostels for families to spend quality time together.

“Accommodation is fully catered and all our meals are healthy and prepared fresh on site, so parents don’t have to think about what to cook. We also provide complimentary drinks throughout the stay.

“As for entertainment, our properties are in some of the UK’s most stunning locations so are perfect for relaxing and exploring.

“The Family Adventure Holidays also include an expert-led programme of activities, which are designed to get families up close to nature and bring out their wild and adventurous side.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming our guests this summer and with holidays still available at some of our locations, we’d love to hear from anyone wanting to know more about what we offer.”

The Field Studies Council, which is a leading provider of outdoor education in the UK, launched its Stay With Us family holidays last year at the peak of the pandemic to maintain an income stream for the charity while school visits were restricted.

It welcomed thousands of visitors during its first season in summer 2020 and it is expecting a similar turnout of families throughout July and August this year.

All Stay With Us locations have received the ‘Good to Go’ mark in recognition of following Government and industry Covid guidelines on cleanliness and social distancing.

FSC also offers a ‘Book with Confidence’ guarantee, which means if bookings are cancelled due to Government restrictions or a requirement to self-isolate, payments can be transferred to another booking or refunded.
