UPDATE: The fire has now been extinguished and all lanes are open.
TWO lanes on the M5 motorway are closed due to a van fire.
Lanes one and two on the northbound carriageway, between junction 26 (Wellington) and junction 25 (Taunton), are closed.
Emergency services arrived at the incident around 7.30pm today (July 18).
Highways England traffic officers are directing traffic, and have advised motorists to allow extra time for their journey, or to find a different route.
"There was 100 per cent fire damage to the cab area of the van and 20 per cent fire and smoke damage to the rear," said a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset fire and rescue.
"The cause of the fire was accidental."
