A TAUNTON hotel is allowing staff and visitors to choose whether they wear a mask or not.

The Corner House Hotel, in Park Street, has updated what is happening there from today (Monday), which has been dubbed Freedom Day.

With the relaxation of the Covid measures, bosses at the hotel say guest and staff safety remains its "top priority".

A strict cleaning regime will be in place throughout the day and night, with sanitisers still available.

Windows and doors will be kept open through the summer.

Table service will still be available, although customers are free to approach the bar area.

A spokesperson said: "Some staff may choose to wear masks, others may not.

"We ask that you respect their choice and we'll respect yours.

"No one will be required to wear them."

The NHS QR code will still be available, but people are not obliged to check in.
