A TAUNTON woman in her 60s has died following a tragic incident in Devon at the weekend.

The woman, who has not been officially named, was pronounced dead after her body was recovered from the water at Axmouth Harbour on Sunday.

Police were called at around 1.40pm to the incident, which also involved the coastguard, ambulance service, fire brigade, police and air ambulance.

The woman's death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed, according to a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police.

They said: "We were called to Axmouth Harbour by the ambulance service at around 1.40pm on Sunday July 18 with a report a woman had been pulled from the water and had been pronounced deceased at the scene.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the coroner.

"The next-of-kin of the woman, aged in her 60s and from Taunton, have been informed."
