MORE than 300 people celebrated the opening of a new community facility in Bishop's Hull.

The ribbon cutting ceremony of the village hub on the playing field was undertaken by local councillor John Hunt.

The new premises was built to replace the ageing parish hall that had served villagers for more than 30 years.

The fun event on Saturday featured a hog roast donated by Tom Parker, of Bishop's Hull Stores, Post Office and Butchers.

The Hub Cafe served complimentary teas, coffees and scones with jam and cream donated by the Meryan House Hotel.

Representatives from the various groups and classes hiring the hall also attended to answer any questions.

Among activities on offer in the hub are short mat bowls, yoga, zumba, dance, gardening, baby and toddler group, community art, martial arts, bridge, University of the Third Age (U3A) and the Woman’s Institute.
