A RENOVATED shipping container - providing injury rehab from one side and coffee from the other - is set to open this weekend.
The Cabin, situated on Chelston Roundabout behind CrossFit Theta, is set to open on Saturday.
As well as a coffee hatch, the other side of the shipping container is a sports massage and injury rehab centre run by Dave Aston, owner of DA coaching.
Owner of the cafe, Hayley Potter, has decided to launch The Cabin on the same day CrossFit Theta is holding a fundraising event to raise money for a defibrillator.
A team will be completing a fitness challenge at the gym on the Saturday.
There will be individual and team challenges, where people will complete 460 reps per hour (to represent the heart and circulatory related deaths per day) for seven hours (to represent this happens seven days a week).
Martin, owner of CrossFit Theta, said: "Research has shown that deploying a defibrillator within three to five minutes of collapse can produce survival rates as high as 50–70%.
"Last year, a huge 170,000 people died due to heart and circulatory problems, equating to an average of 460 people a day.
"The day will also include a BBQ and refreshments from the cabin.
"It’s set to be a fun day so save the date."
The Cabin is set to offer a range of coffees, cold drinks, smoothies and more.
They will also service protein shakes, pre-trainer and protein bars.
Hayley added: "We are so excited to have a small family business and feel lucky to be in a position to have been able to renovate this shipping container with the help of my Dad, Keith and his friend Jim.
"It’s mostly been done using recycled and reused materials that have been upcycled by Keith and Jim.
"It would be wonderful to have visitors for our launch day.
"We look forward to seeing everyone then.
"Opening somewhere like The Cabin has been a family idea of ours for a while and it’s great that we’re finally able to fulfil that vision.
"It’s come at the best time for us as we have an eight month old little girl and it fits perfectly with the flexible lifestyle we want."
