A WOMAN from Taunton was fined £85 after leaving her car at the valet service in a supermarket for four hours.

Catherine Batrick sent her car in for a full valet at Morrisons, and the staff told her partner, Ambrose Farley, to pick it up four hours later.

However, when they returned , they received a parking fine from Morrisons for being in the car park for over two hours.

The pair took it to the valet staff who said they would sort the fine, but a few weeks later, they received a final reminder to pay the £85 bill.

“We couldn’t believe it, if you go to the Morrisons valet, they should tell you what time to come back - it is not your problem if the car is there for more than two hours,” said Catherine.

“I want to warn people they could end up with an £85 parking bill which you have got to fight, it seems ludicrous.

“I just think it was so shoddy, as I can park it in different car park and have it valeted and this would never happen, you could do it in Tesco and couldn’t get a fine there.

“Morrisons shouldn’t allow it or they should change their system.”

Catherine’s sister also received a parking ticket from the valet service at the supermarket. She went to appeal it, but it was denied.

After being contacted by the County Gazette, a Morrisons spokesperson said: “We apologise for the inconvenience caused on this occasion and have asked the customer to share the registration details so that we can get this rectified asap.”
