THE duck with the taped up beak in Vivary Park, Taunton, is resisting attempts to help her.
Several people have attempted to approach the mallard, which was spotted at the weekend with a strip of black tape around its beak.
And the RSPCA has been in the park unsuccessfully trying to remove the tape.
A spokesperson for the RSPCA said: “Sadly it’s not yet been possible to catch the duck despite attempts by specialist water rescue officers over recent days.
“The duck is still feeding and is able to fly and swim away when approached.
"We’ll be continuing to try to rescue her and are asking the public to help monitor her and contact us on 0300 1234 999 if they see her deteriorate.”
People desperate to help the bird had said she appeared hungry and thirsty at the weekend.
It is unknown how the tape became wrapped around her beak.
