A local insurance and financial planning firm are having a double celebration this year as they celebrate their 75th anniversary as well as receiving a prestigious National Insurance Award. Due to continued growth, they are now recruiting another 15 staff at their offices in Taunton.
Lloyd & Whyte were established in 1946 as a one-man band and have since grown to over 360 people across 12 locations and are one of the Top 25 Independent brokers in the UK.
The past few years has seen tremendous growth for the family firm and have acquired several businesses across the country. As expert financial planners and specialist insurance providers, Lloyd & Whyte CEO, Matthew Pyke said: “My father took the business over from Mr Whyte in the 1970s and since then we have grown into a regional brokerage before moving ourselves forward as a national award-winning and chartered financial group.”
Lloyd & Whyte won the prestigious title of ‘Growth Company of The Year’ at the 2021 National Insurance Awards adding to their win of ‘Medium Employer of the Year’ at the Somerset Apprenticeship Awards in 2020.
Already one of the largest employers in Taunton, the company have intentions for further growth, and as one of only a handful of Chartered Insurance Brokers and Financial Planners in the UK they are renowned for their high level of excellence within their industry.
Matthew said: “The culture and values of our business is the most important thing for me. It always has been and always will be about how we interact with clients, business partners and our people.
"Even though we have grown a lot, our culture and values remain as good as they have always been. Without our people, we have nothing.”
