PICTURES of work on the upgrade of a major road into and out of Taunton have been issued by Somerset County Council's travel arm.
The work on the Toneway got underway two weeks ago on Monday, August 9 and is set to take almost a year to complete.
The £8.3million scheme will improve the Creech Castle junction in a bid to ease traffic congestion there at peak times.
The new layout will have increased capacity by widening and adding additional lanes.
There will be three straight ahead lanes in both directions on Toneway.
There will also be three lanes for vehicles turning from the A38 Bridgwater Road from either direction onto Toneway.
The right turn lane from Toneway onto the A38 Bridgwater Road north will be much longer to cope with increasing traffic volumes. The improved junction will have an integrated parallel crossing to offer significant benefits for cyclists and pedestrians.
During the work, the A38 Bridgwater Road to the north of Toneway will be closed to traffic.
Until further notice, Taunton's two park and ride schemes will be free to use for all passengers.
