I NOTE proposals for a garden community in Frome.
A garden town is a holistically planned new settlement which enhances the natural environment, tackles climate change and provides high quality housing locally and accessible jobs in beautiful, healthy and sociable communities.
It seems developers and councils believe building the dream needs only mass development, enjoying the certainty that more houses equals more gardens.

It is clearly naive to think that before building houses, roads, school capacity, cycle paths etc would first be upgraded.
Buildings then erected should comply with the best, not barely adequate, standards to meet zero carbon expectations in the decades ahead.
Will ‘One Somerset’ provide real leadership, or perpetuate the second rate in both Taunton and Frome?
