Taunton Titans head coach, Tony Yapp has told us that his side is prepared for their first season in the National League One.

"We have been building for this promotion for a few years now and we are ready for the challenges ahead in this league."

"We have managed to keep a lot of the squad for this year and we have prepared well in the pre season," said Yapp.

Taunton are travelling to Leeds on Friday ahead of the match on Saturday against Leeds Tykes and will hope to return with their first win in the competition.

Leeds are coached by Phil Daves, former Welsh international, and have been in the Rugby Championship as recent as the 2019/20 season.

"Leeds will be a very well organised and well drilled team, they will be tough to beat," Yapp said.

"There is a lot of unknowns for us going into the season, we have never played at this level before, but we are up for it."

"It wont be until maybe four or five games into the season till we have a better understanding of where we are as a club in this competition."

The Titans have played three pre season friendly games that have given the club opportunities to get up to scratch.

In the pre season, the Titans announced that the skipper for the season ahead will be George Gosling, a PE Master at Colyton College.

"George is a local lad and is going into his third year with the club, we are lucky to have him and his leadership will be valuable in the season ahead," said Yapp.

After the away trip to Leeds, the Titans play Darlington away on September 11.

The first home game will be at Veritas Park, Hyde Lane, on September 18 when the club will welcome the well-known London club, Rosslyn Park, as their first League visitors
