New walkway between station and town centre open
A NEW cyclepath and walkway has been opened between Taunton train station and the town centre has been opened.
Somerset West and Taunton Council has announced the opening of the temporary route, which starts on Trenchard Way opposite the station and runs through Firepool.
"Somerset West and Taunton has created a temporary cycle and pedestrian link allowing direct access from Taunton railway station through Firepool to the town centre," the council said.
"The footpath/cycleway will be open from 7am to 8pm daily."
Improved cycle and foot paths in the county town are part of the council's 2040 Vision document, outlining plans for Taunton in the coming years.
