A MAN and a woman have been arrested after a pregnant woman suffered "a significant facial injury" in an incident in Taunton.

Police are appealing for witnesses and any video footage following the "disorder" in the Lime Crescent area of the county town.

The incident took place close to the junction with Sycamore Close on Wednesday (September 8) at about 8.30pm.

The victim, who is aged 27, required surgery to her face at Musgrove Park Hospital.

The woman, who has asked not to be named, suffered damage to an eyelid and her tear duct.

She is unable to take strong medication for the pain due to her pregnancy.

She has since been discharged from hospital to recover at home.

Police say a 38-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with the assault.

They were still in custody this afternoon (Friday).

Anyone who saw any part of the incident or who has relevant mobile phone or dashcam footage is asked to call police on 101, giving the call handler the reference number 5221208760.
