THE names of the candidates standing in two council by elections have been made known.
The polls for a seat on Somerset County Council and Somerset West and Taunton Council take place on Thursday, October 7.
The votes are for vacancies created at County Hall and the Deane House by the death of long-standing LibDem Cllr Alan Wedderkopp, who died aged 89 in July.
The district election is for the Wilton and Sherford ward and the people standing there are Tom Deakin (LibDem); Ruth Harmon (Conservative); and Fran Hicks (Green Party).
The county poll is for Comeytrowe and Trull and the candidates are Ruth Harmon (Conservative); Dawn Johnson (LibDem); Michael McGuffie (Labour).
Applications to register to vote must reach the electoral registration officer by midnight on Tuesday (September 21).
