A CARE home in Taunton held its very own Balloon Fiesta this month to help raise the spirits of the residents.

Residents and staff at The Rectory Care Home in Taunton enjoyed a ‘spectacular’ hot air balloon event thanks to Fly Away Ballooning.

And residents also enjoyed a private garden party as well.

Catherine Dowell hosted the event in her garden to make sure everyone was able to watch the event safely.

And The Rectory Care Home provided tables and chairs with parasols.

Guests also had a light supper with champagne or a glass of Bath Gin from the care home’s pub - The Cock & Bull.

One resident said: “This really is a special, spectacular day and I will never forget it."

And another added: “This is a magical moment and I will treasure it forever.”

Two of the residents arrived at the event in the care home’s own Tuk Tuk.

“Drivers on the road were beeping and waving at the residents as they travelled to the event, even a police officer in his vehicle gave them a wave along the way,” said a spokesperson for the home.

“With the unpredictable weather we have in the UK this event has been in the offing for some time.

"But thankfully the weather today meant everything fell into place and the home was able to quickly facilitate everything to help create this wonderful treat.

"This was an unusual treat from our care home, and we really do go above and beyond to provide the best stimulation possible for the residents."
